Read Across America Author Event with Carmen Agra Deedy
Learning Ally is thrilled to have author Carmen Agra Deedy as our celebrity guest host to bring our 2023 Great Reading Games to a finale! The Great Reading Games is an award-winning program that helps educators engage students to use human-read audiobooks to read at or above grade level, double their reading time and triple their reading frequency. The seven-week, rewards-based challenge begins in January to coincide with Read Across America national events and ends on February 24th.

Carmen Agra Deedy is the author of thirteen books for children, including The Library Dragon, The Cheshire Cheese Cat, Martina the Beautiful Cockroach, The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet! and 14 Cows for America, a New York Times Bestseller. Her newest picture book, Wombat Said Come In! (Peachtree Publishing), illustrated by Brian Lies, was released in September 2022.

Carmen Agra Deedy is the author of thirteen books for children, including The Library Dragon, The Cheshire Cheese Cat, Martina the Beautiful Cockroach, The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet! and 14 Cows for America, a New York Times Bestseller. Her newest picture book, Wombat Said Come In! (Peachtree Publishing), illustrated by Brian Lies, was released in September 2022. Her personal stories first appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered. Funny, insightful, and frequently irreverent, Deedy’s narratives are culled from her childhood as a Cuban refugee in Decatur, Georgia. She is host of the four-time Emmy-winning children’s program, Love That Book!
